| 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful  Don't Throw Out Your Old Deep Fryer, This review is from: Big Boss Oil-less Fryer I recently purchased this item from Wal-Mart about a month ago thinking that it would be a healthy substitute for our deep fryer. We used it a handful of times on chicken, pork and french fries and overall the Big Boss oil-less fryer did the job. In some cases it left the food a little on the dry side. However, what prompted us to rethink throwing out the old deep fryer was when we went to fry some battered zucchini sticks. Of course, battered zucchini sticks weren't listed on the suggested frying time list so we picked a similar item as a guide. However, when the finished product came out, the batter coating formed into a bread stick like coating and the zucchini itself was severely dehydrated. The next day we tried again, this time with a much lower frying time and got a limpy bread like zucchini stick. What we were looking for was a juicy zucchini stick covered with a crispy batter coating, and no matter what we tried we just couldn't get this result. Afterwards, I threw a few... Made chicken, potatoes, french fries, jalapeno poppers, cheese curds and more! Everything is nice and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside! I used to bake everything so I wouldn't get all of the extra fat with the oil when deep frying. Of course when baking, everything comes out a little limp. With this fryer it tastes like you are eating at a restaurant without the extra fat!! It's awesome!! Had an infrawave oven, putting that in storage to make room for the oil less fryer!! You will love it!! Only downside is if you have a big family you might have a difficult time fitting enough food in it! Fit 6 chicken legs in at once with potatoes on the top, maxed out.
