This 6 quart stovetop deep fryer from MIU FRANCE is a great accessory piece of cookware. Cooking with hot oil cooks food from the inside out. French fries and deep fried zucchini are two favorites. The outer pan is made of hard anodized aluminum while the inner basket and screen are made from stainless steel. The heavy duty cast steel handle is riveted to the pan body. The lid has a handle also.

Only one down-side I notice. The pour-spouts on the sides are not sufficiently pronounced to avoid spilling when pouring oil out. Otherwise the product is perfect for my purpose. P.S. I think an oil/candy thermometer would make a good companion for this item.

The pot is solid and the handle is very sturdy, everything appear to be a good quality built. I don't use the wire basket so do not know if it performs ok or not.

The conical shape of the pot is excellent for maximum heat transfer and the material is good for heat retention. The inner side wall is high (deep?) enough to reduce oil splash--having the lid also further this cause. The vented lid is an excellent idea for minimizing condensation--it worked!

Finally, the handles are excellent for supporting the weight of the pot, especially when filled with oil.

Excellent unit. Heavy, well made, and does the job perfectly. I would recommend this fryer highly. Until a few weeks ago I had an electric deep fryer (Euro Pro) that didn't do the job very well and just decided to die while I was making a home fish fry. No more electrics for me. Don't forget to get a thermometer if you don't have one.

If quality tools are important to you, this is the fry basket for you. In case you may want to know what size it really is, it's:

Diameter: 9.75" Dimensions: 19" x 9.75" wide x 4" tall.

No, you don't have to use it in an allclad pan. I'm using it in a dutch oven and it fits perfectly. It also has that hook on the handle side so you can hang it over the oil to drain. And it's STURDY.

This is 60 bucks at All Clad sites and this is a heck of a deal.

Now to enjoy some Fronch Fries.

This thing is super. It turns the 6 qt stockpot or tall sauté pot into a deep fryer, or extracts the carcass and/or veggies out of stock liquid without having to strain off the liquid into another container.

I love to make turkey or chicken soup with the carcass after most of the meat has been eaten, but there's usually some meat sticking to the bones that needs to be hand pulled after boiling. By using this basket with my tall 6 qt sauté pan, I can just lift it up with all the bones and vegetables inside and hang it on the edge of the pan via the basket's hook to let everything drain and cool. When the ingredients are cool enough to handle I can remove the remaining meat from the bones and throw out the rest. If I'm making a soup, I can add that meat right back to the stock along with some rice or noodles and chopped parsley and it's wonderful. Of course, I may want to do other things with the stock, but the fact remains that with this basket, getting... Read more

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: All-Clad 6-Quart Fry Basket (Kitchen)
Purchased the All-Clad after learning about another fry basket and researching fry baskets. I chose the All-Clad because it's stainless steel (vs chrome plated) and, as in all All-Clad products, it has a life-time warranty. It has a large capacity and the handle is NOT riveted to the basket, but it does seem to be securely attached. I like that the base has "feet" that elevate your contents maybe 1/4" above the bottom of the pan to keep the contents out of any residue left from multiple batches of frying. You DO need to buy a deep pan to use it in. I tried it in my Tramontina dutch oven and it's not a good fit. I broke down and got the All-Clad 6 quart deep saute pan (before the prices jumped astronomically) and it's a perfect fit. The fry basket has a hook on the bottom that allows you to hang the basket on the edge of the pan to drain - very nice. As the weather gets warmer, I plan to use it outside on the grill burner for frying to keep the grease out of the kitchen. For... Read more

On sale FARBERWARE Classic Stainless Steel Fry Pan - 10 Inch ~ With & Without Lid

Product Description

Functional as well as beautiful, this 10-inch frying pan is made of heavy 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. The pan has an aluminum core in its base to spread heat quickly and evenly. The core is completely clad in stainless steel so, like the rest of the pan, the bottom resists corrosion and discoloring and cleans up easily. Thick rolled rims add durability and make it possible to pour from the pan without dripping. Because the pan is 2-1/2 inches deep and comes with a tight-fitting, domed lid, it is roomy enough to fry chicken and saut? vegetables but can also be used for braising red cabbage and pork chops or for cooking chili on the stovetop or in the oven. (The handles are oven safe to 350 degrees F and stay cool on the stovetop.) The pan is dishwasher-safe and comes with a lifetime warranty against defects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fry Pan, with a Tight Lid, September 17, 2002
David Lindamood (Cadillac, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this Farberware 10 inch frypan for my son's first college apartment because of the price and Farberware name. After using it at his apartment, I bought another one for myself along with a 12" fry pan!

The pan is heavy based (aluminum core with 18/10 stainless steel) and dispurses heat quickly and evenly. This allows for all types of pan cooking, including frying chicken or pork chops to saute veggies or stir fry to slow cooking a chilli without hot spots in the pan. Clean up is easy and is advertised as dishwasher safe, but my son doesn't have a dishwasher in his apartment, but will take Farberware's word for it, along with the handle being oven safe to 350 degrees.

The tight fitting lid allows for quick steaming or cooking the top of sunny side up eggs without breaking the yoke or flipping the egg, you get a once over easy egg without having to actually flip the egg.

A great fry pan for almost any application.

I have always wanted to own a classic aluminum piece of cookware and a skillet was a perfect choice. I had two gift certificates from doing online surveys so my total cost out of pocket after shipping was added was .58. So, I thought even if I didn't like the pan a great deal once I got it I only paid .58 cents and it would be no big loss. Was I pleasantly surprised at the curvy lines and clean appearance and tight fitting lid. It cooks wonderfully and the rolled, high sides make cooking even easier and cleanup is easy too. I can see myself reaching for this skillet time and time again. (The only flaw is it could use a handle on the opposite side to make draining liquids easier.) :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic cookware, August 20, 2001
Steven Dennis (Reston, VA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Farberware Classic could not be more aptly named. These pans seem to be indestructible (I've had mine for 5 years, my mom for 35), and they distribute heat evenly.

However, there are two issues with all Farberware -- they are NOT nonstick. This is actually better for browning, but on occasion, you may find yourself scouring with some steel wool pads. Second, these pans are not quite as sensitive to temperature changes as, say, Calphalon, because of the nature of Stainless Steel. Although these are aluminum-clad, they are still mostly stainless steel, which is a poor heat conductor relative to aluminum or copper. What that means is that it takes a bit longer for them to heat up and to cool down, so you have less control.

But there are many other advantages relative to say, Calphalon --the handles stay cool, you can put these in the dishwasher and these have a beatiful shiny finish.

The price can't be beat either.
